Sudbury Perspective: Kids should be allowed to move.

Have you ever been in an all-day conference, in a hotel or office conference room, and find yourself going stir crazy? And if it’s a multi-day conference, heaven help you. I find myself watching the clock in the afternoons, praying that the time will go quickly (even if I really want to learn about the topic at hand) just so that I can get some fresh air. Well, that is what we ask our of kids, day in and day out.

The Sudbury model does not have formal classrooms. You sit when you need to sit, you move when you need to move. You are not confined to the same seat in the same room, day after day.

I love this piece from a professional journalist who tried to sit in a traditional middle school classroom all day.  Check it out.
